Who Are We?

About Us

Growing Families Australia (GFA) is a Christian organisation committed to providing the family, church and community with parenting resources that will help instil, encourage, and perpetuate the passing on of biblical values from one generation to the next. Covering each stage of parenting from newborns to teens, our resources include:
•    ten DVD based courses run by facilitators,
•    hundreds of products available through our online bookstore,
•    mums groups that run in most states of Australia,
•    a network of contact mums who can help with specific parenting questions, and
•    parenting events at both state & national levels.

We are staffed by volunteer parents who have been positively impacted by the material, and wish to share it with others so they too can benefit from applying the principles of biblical parenting to their family. Our vision is to reach our nation one family at a time with the message of hope that reflects God’s love to all mankind as expressed in His Son, Jesus Christ.

Started by Bill & Joan Grosser in 1996, GFA uses the teachings of Gary & Anne Marie Ezzo, a Christian couple from the United States whom the Lord has used to impact millions of parents around the world eg their “On Becoming Babywise” book has sold over 2.5million copies and is available in 14 languages. Since the Ezzos started Growing Families International in 1984, it has been used in over 94 countries.

Together the Ezzos have written twenty-three books on parenting and reside in Charleston, South Carolina.  Gary and Anne Marie have eight grandchildren.

Bill and Joan Grosser - Growing Families Australia

This amazing ministry has been available in Australia since the late '80's.  In November '96, Bill and Joan Grosser (left) were appointed as founding National Directors of Growing Families for Australia.  They began using the materials in '90, after they had met Gary and Anne Marie, and realised that this material was urgently needed in Australia.

At the 2012 GFA National Conference in Phillip Island Victoria, Bill & Joan Grosser announced their decision to step down from active duties as National Directors.  As part of their announcement, they formally handed over active duties to the “National Overseeing Team”, a group of three couples who have been unanimously endorsed by the GFA leadership community.

The “National Overseeing Team” is a group of three couples who have been unanimously endorsed by the GFA leadership community.  The three couples are: Andy & Robyn Hamdorf, Geoff & Alicia Bongers, and Peter & Michelle Foote.

National Overseeing Team

Andy and Robyn Hamdorf have been married since 1988 and have 3 children, Annika, Corinne and Ethan.  We have been involved with Growing Families since 1996 and held a number of different roles in that time.  We love spending time with our family.  Our passion is to help other parents in training and disciplining their children so that they too will love being with their children and will show God's love to the world.

Peter and Michelle Foote have been involved in Growing Families Australia since 2000 in a variety of capacities.  Together with our four children – Megan (14), Kate (11), Michael (8) and Ruth (5), we have been profoundly impacted by the biblical focus it has brought to our parenting.  Our passion is to love God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength in every area of family life, and encourage others to do the same.

Geoff and Alicia Bongers have been a family since 1993, adding Nathan '97, David '99, Josiah '01 and Hannah '03 and have been involved with Growing Families since 1997.  We love being a Growing Families family and really enjoy being around like minded families – National Conference, Family Camps, Plays in the Park and just normal family get-together’s.  Most of all we try and define God to the world so we can help the world find God.

National Office

Andy and Robyn Hamdorf are the GFA Administration Managers and live in Happy Valley, South Australia. They were present in 1996 when Gary and Anne Marie Ezzo held their first meeting in Adelaide at the invitation of Les Crawford. They have raised their 3 children, Annika , Corinne and Ethan using the firm biblical principles that GFI programs support. They have been abundantly blessed by the Ezzo's ministry and now believe it a privilege to give back to the ministry for all that they have received. Andy and Robyn run the GFA National Office administration and distribution centre.

Statement of Faith

STATEMENT OF FAITH

We believe the Bible to be the authoritative Word of God (literally God-breathed), inerrant, verbally inspired, and infallible.

We believe there is one true God, manifested eternally in three distinct Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

We believe in the deity of Jesus Christ, the second person of the Trinity, who possesses all the divine attributes and is coequal, coexistent, and coeternal with the Father. We believe in His virgin birth, that He was God incarnate (both God and man), for the purpose of revealing the Father, redeeming men and ruling over God's Kingdom. He accomplished man's redemption by the vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood and sacrificial death on the cross. By His literal, physical resurrection from the dead and His ascension to the right hand of the Father, the sinner is justified. We believe Jesus to be the mediator between God and man who will return in glory to judge all mankind.

We believe the Holy Spirit is the third member of the Trinity, possessing all the divine attributes with the Father and the Son. The Holy Spirit is the super-natural and sovereign agent in regeneration, baptizing all believers into the body of Christ at the moment of conversion. The Holy Spirit also indwells, sanctifies, instructs, and empowers all believers for spiritual service.

We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit who administers spiritual gifts to each believer for the purpose of equipping the saints and for the building up of the body of Christ.

We believe in the bodily resurrection of both the saved and lost, the saved to eternal life and the lost to everlasting punishment.

We believe that all who place their faith in Jesus Christ are placed by the Holy Spirit into the spiritual body of believers known as the church, with Christ established as the head. The purpose of the church is to glorify God by the teaching and instruction of the Word, by building the faith of its members, by providing an atmosphere of worship, by providing fellowship, and by fulfilling the great commission to reach the world for Jesus Christ.

We believe that man is a sinner and that the penalty for sin is eternal separation from the Father. We believe that eternal life is a free gift of grace bestowed upon each repentant sinner who responds in faith to the provision of salvation in Jesus Christ. Regeneration is instantaneous and is accomplished solely by the power of the Holy Spirit. Genuine regeneration will manifest itself by righteous attitudes, edifying conduct, and good works to the extent that each believer submits himself to the control of the Holy Spirit.
