Greetings from the GFWA State Committee.

Here in the west we are not only blessed with near perfect weather, but we also have the benefit of having the National Directors of Growing Families Australia, Bill and Joan Grosser, living close at hand, and they are certainly a great support to us.

Introducing the State Representatives

John and Patricia Wieske have been representing GFWA since 2002, first having been committee members for 2 years, before taking over the role of state reps when Gary and Rhonda Lindburg moved to New Zealand. John and Patricia have been married for 16 years and have 11 children, ranging in age from 15 years old to 11 months. They participated in their first GFA course (AVW/GKGW) when Patricia was pregnant with No. 7 child, and have since participated in all of the GFA courses. Not long after they attended their first class, God laid it on their hearts to become involved in the ministry of GFA. They have since run courses every year through the local Christian school where their children attend, and have become part of the GFWA team. John and Patricia have a very busy schedule with life filled with a large family, church commitments, GFA responsibilities, as well as John managing his own construction company, and Patricia managing a very busy home.
             

Introducing the WA State Committee

 

The Growing Families Western Australia (GFWA) State Committee team runs autonomously, though values the input of the Grossers with them being invited and often present at our committee meetings, as their busy schedule allows. Currently, the committee consists of the following couples:

• Greg and Jenny Harbour - Childwise coordinators and support.

• Kerry and Sally Pearce - Treasury, Camp coordinators and support.

• Chen and Julie Seet - Data base and support.

• John and Patricia Wieske - GFWA State reps.

Role of the State Committee

The state committee meets 4 – 5 times a year in the homes of different members, to discuss the affairs of Growing Families in our state. Our major role is that of support to the churches, schools and other organizations who use and implement the programs provided by GFA, as well as course graduates. Some of the areas of support that are provided are as follows:

• Leadership training – To equip current and prospective class leaders in the running of GFA courses.

• Running introduction evenings – To facilitate the introduction of GFA Courses to your church, school etc.

• Visit church leaders on the potential of GFA courses in their church.

• Run an annual camp for the graduates of GFA courses to encourage likeminded community.

• Organize social events such as picnics where GFA course graduates can meet and fellowship with other likeminded families.

• Support in the organization of the national conference that runs every two years.

• Provide support and encouragement to the different programs run in conjunction to GFWA.
